
Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini reviewed irrigation and water resources projects with a tender amount of more than Rs 100 crore.
Chandigarh, June 16 – Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that the state government is taking firm and concrete steps to strengthen the irrigation and water infrastructure under which five major projects are being implemented under the Irrigation and Water Resources Department, in which more than Rs 100 crore has been invested in each. The aim of these projects is to increase water conservation and improve irrigation efficiency.

The aim of these projects is to increase water conservation and improve irrigation efficiency.
Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini was chairing a review meeting of various projects of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department here today.
Giving strict instructions, the Chief Minister said that there should not have been so much delay in the engineering drawing of the projects. Delay in approval of drawings leads to delay in implementation of projects. He has directed to take strict action against the officers responsible for delay in approval of drawings. Apart from this, he also directed to pay special attention to quality in projects. He said that no compromise will be made in quality.
Shri Naib Singh Saini said that the new parallel line channel from Dadupur to Hamida Head and modernization of WJC is being done with Rs. 274.87 crore. The aim of this project is to reduce the leakage loss from Hathini Kund Barrage during non-monsoon period. So far 64.5 percent work has been completed. The target of completing the project by March 2026 has been set.
The Chief Minister said that the augmentation canal up to the WJC branch is being reconstructed at a cost of Rs 383 crore. 81 per cent of the work of this project has been completed and is expected to be completed by June 2025. Similarly, the lining and remodeling work of the PD branch is being done at a cost of Rs 197.80 crore. The work of concrete lining is included in 145.25 km under this project. He said that the work of structural safety project of construction of diaphragm wall in the downstream of Hathinikund Barrage at a cost of Rs 145.99 crore is in progress. Similarly, under the Gorakhpur Haryana Nuclear Power Project, RCC barrel and link channel are being constructed at a cost of Rs 442.64 crore for water supply to the Gorakhpur Atomic Power Plant. Much of this work has been completed.
Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that for Monsoon 2025, the Irrigation Department has prepared a short-term strategy to ensure uninterrupted water supply and infrastructure security during the monsoon. The Haryana Government is committed to timely implementation of these mega-projects which are important for the water security and agricultural sustainability of the state. Continuous monitoring, inter-departmental coordination and stakeholder engagement are being given priority to overcome the challenges and complete the work at a fast pace.
Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Rastogi, Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Environment, Forest and Wildlife Department Mr. Anand Mohan Sharan and Commissioner and Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department Mr. Mohammad Shine, EIC Mr. Satbir Kadian and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
