Punjab government's coaching centres play an important role in connecting youth with sports

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 28, 2025: The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is working day and night to connect the youth of the state with sports, under which important initiatives like Khel Watan Punjab have been started, while the sports coaching centres running in the districts are also playing an important role in connecting the youth with sports.

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 28, 2025: The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is working day and night to connect the youth of the state with sports, under which important initiatives like Khel Watan Punjab have been started, while the sports coaching centres running in the districts are also playing an important role in connecting the youth with sports.
Under this scheme, 20 coaching centres are operational in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district, in which about 771 youth practice sports daily.
Giving this information, District Sports Officer Rupesh Kumar Begra said that the 20 coaching centers running in the district include Khel Bhawan, Sector-78 Mohali (Football), Khel Stadium Village Chando Gobindgarh, Mohali (Football), Senior Secondary School Phase-3B-1 Mohali, (Handball), Khel Stadium Village Chando Gobindgarh, Mohali (Basketball), Khel Bhawan, Sector-78 (Swimming), Khel Bhawan Sector-63 (Swimming), Senior Balbir Singh International Hockey Stadium Sector-63 (Hockey), Khel Bhawan Sector-78 (Gymnastics), Khel Bhawan Sector-78 (Wrestling), Shooting Range Phase-6, Mohali (Shooting), Khel Bhawan Sector-63 (Volleyball), Mauli Baidwan Sector-80 (Weightlifting), Khel Bhawan Sector-63 (Weightlifting), Shri Vishwakarma Mahaveer Gymnasium and Wrestling Club, Mullanpur Garibdas, Mohali. (Wrestling), Khel Bhawan Sector-78 (Badminton), Khel Bhawan Sector-78 (Wrestling), Khel Bhawan Sector-78 (Athletics), Khel Bhawan Sector-78 (Basketball), Government High School Devi Nagar (Abrawa) Gursewak Singh Stadium, Mohali (Kabaddi), Khel Bhawan Sector-78 (Judo), Khel Bhawan Sector-78 (Khelo India Centre) (Football), Khel Bhawan Sector-78 (Fencing) are included in the sports centers.
The District Sports Officer further informed that about 771 players practice in the centers of District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. Under this, 25 players of athletics, 60 of basketball, 120 of gymnastics, 40 of kabaddi, 47 of wrestling, 55 of badminton, 80 of hockey, 102 of football, 74 of handball, 30 of swimming, 25 of shooting, 47 of volleyball, 15 of weightlifting, 26 of judo and 25 of fencing practice in the centers running in the district. Training, sports equipment and food are provided free of cost to the players coming to the centers. Along with this, yoga classes are also held in these centers under CM Yogashala, in which the players and their parents also participate enthusiastically. These centers have enabled the players of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district to participate in national and international competitions. Apart from this, the players of the district have also performed excellently in the Khelo Watan Punjab organized by the Punjab Government 3 times so far. Preparations are also going on in full swing in the sports centers of the district for the upcoming Khelo Watan Punjab to be held this year. District Sports Officer Rupesh Kumar Begda appealed to the people to involve their children in sports as much as possible and take advantage of the sports related schemes and facilities of the Punjab Government. This will not only keep the young generation away from drugs but will also bring glory to themselves, the state and the country.
