Dr. Balbir Singh ordered an inquiry into the power outage during the operation

Patiala, January 25- Punjab Medical Education and Research and Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has ordered an inquiry into the sudden power outage in the operation theatre of Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala yesterday. Dr. Balbir Singh today visited the 66 KV sub-station of Rajindra Hospital and took stock of the situation. After this, he held an emergency meeting with the Director Distribution, Chief Engineer of Electricity Corporation, Chief Engineer of Power Wing of Public Works Department and other engineers and thoroughly investigated all aspects.

On this occasion, the Health Minister said that in view of the seriousness of the whole matter, any kind of negligence will not be tolerated and the power outage for some time will be thoroughly investigated. He said that the arrangements for the supply of the hospital are being audited by the Electricity Corporation and the Power Wing of the Public Works Corporation and any kind of negligence will not be tolerated.
He gave strict instructions that there should be no shortage in the arrangements for changing UPS, generator set and power line and RMU should also be installed immediately. Talking to the media, he said that Rajindra Hospital is being made better than corporate hospitals and a Post Graduate Training Institute is being built on the lines of PGI.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that all the arrangements of the hospital including power arrangements are being reviewed continuously and such arrangements are being made that UPS backup is there for half an hour, generator starts in 1 to 2 minutes and line is changed in 10 minutes so that there is no problem in continuing uninterrupted power supply in future.
The Medical Education Minister said that the doctors who treated the patient despite power failure during the operation yesterday deserve praise, but the doctor who made a video in panic instead of saving time deserves less praise.
