Deepit Sharma from Pathankot commissioned as Lieutenant in the Indian Army.

Chandigarh, September 6: Deepit Sharma, a cadet of the 7th course of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army, one of the oldest infantry regiments of the Army, at a passing out parade held at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai today. The passing out parade was inspected by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, PVSM, AVSM.

Cadet Deepit Sharma, a resident of district Pathankot, has followed in his father’s footsteps and become an officer in the Army. What is even more proud for his family is that he has been commissioned in the same unit of the Kumaon Regiment where his father is serving.
Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr. Aman Arora congratulated Lt. Deepit Sharma and wished him a bright future in the service of the nation. He said that with the commissioning of Lt. Sharma, the number of cadets who have become commissioned officers of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute has increased to 179.
The Director of this institute, Major General Ajay H. Chauhan, VSM (Retd), congratulated Lt. Deepit Sharma on becoming a commissioned officer. He informed that the UPSC NDA (2) written examination for the current batch of cadets will be held on September 14, 2025, which is very important for the aspirants to become officers.
