Meeting organized in view of Road Safety Month

This meeting was organized to prepare a blueprint of the programs and awareness campaign to be conducted during the Road Safety Month. Officials from the Transport Department, educational institutions and other departments were present in the meeting.
Vishwa Mohan Dev Chauhan said that the purpose of celebrating Road Safety Month is to make more and more people aware of road safety rules so that road accidents can be reduced and they can understand their responsibility towards road safety. During the Road Safety Month, special awareness programs will be organized in schools and colleges in which students will be given information about traffic rules and safe road use. During the month, experts from the police and transport department will create awareness about road safety rules, driving techniques, importance of road signals and measures to prevent accidents.

Will be honored for commendable work and contribution
During the Road Safety Month, competitions like quiz, poster making, debates etc. will be organized in educational institutions. Through these competitions, awareness messages will be given to children to ensure compliance with road safety rules. Students who raise awareness towards road safety and perform well will also be honored with prizes. Apart from this, he instructed the District Sports Officer to organize a 10 km cross-country race so that awareness of road safety rules can increase among the people.

Put up signboards at prominent places
SDM asked the officials of MC Una and PWD department to install warning boards at important places including educational institutions to spread awareness about road safety. Apart from this, he also asked to install signboards giving information about traffic rules at traffic signals, parking zones, U-turns, sharp turns, markings at bus stops and educational institutions.
SDM urged all the officers and panchayat representatives to actively cooperate to make the Road Safety Month a success. He said that road safety is the responsibility of all of us and every citizen should ensure its observance.
On this occasion, District Sports Officer Uttam Dod, Principal of Women ITI Una Engineer BS Dhillon, EO MC Mehtapur Varsha Chaudhary along with other officers and employees were present.
