Awareness session on Benzene Free India organised

SAS Nagar, January 28- An awareness session on the ill-effects of benzene was organised at Paos Industries Community Centre to protect people from the harmful effects of benzene. On this occasion, under the 'Benzene Free India' campaign launched by the Municipal Corporation in collaboration with Mohali Municipal Corporation, Sector 69 Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu was the chief guest, while Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner Deepankar Garg was the chief guest and Assistant Commissioner Ranjeev Kumar was the special guest.

On this occasion, Paos Industries Managing Director Sanjeev Bansal said that benzene used to make foam in cleaning products causes many serious health risks, including skin problems like eczema, rashes and blisters, as benzene is released through the utensils cleaned by them. These particles can enter the human body.
He said that to solve this problem, manufacturers need to take ethical steps to stop its use and they should not use benzene in their products.
On this occasion, experts gave lectures on the harm caused by benzene to human health and the measures to deal with this problem and pamphlets were also distributed to make the audience aware. Experts said that links to research papers of Japan, National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society are available on the Internet, which explain the health hazards caused by the use of benzene.
Municipal Corporation Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu said that by participating in the Benzene Free India awareness campaign, he realized how some detergent products are playing with the health of people.
