Dasuha/Hoshiarpur- The number of stray dogs in Dasuha's Krishna Colony is increasing day by day, due to which it has become a terror for the residents of the area, especially the children, to step out of the house. These dogs bark and chase the people coming and going, due to which the children get very scared especially while going to school or playing.
This situation is made even more serious by some dog lovers, who feed the stray dogs in front of their houses day and night and say that they protect their houses.
But these dogs have now become permanent in the area and have become a nuisance for the passers-by. When some residents appeal not to serve food in public places, the dog lovers respond in a wrong manner, which complicates the problem further.
Senior journalist and social worker Mr. Sanjeev Kumar has raised this issue and demanded immediate action from the Municipal Committee Dasuha. He said that "compassion towards animals is necessary, but the safety of children should come first." He demanded that sterilization, rehabilitation and feeding of dogs should be made regular.
In this regard, EO of Municipal Committee Dasuha Kanwaljinder Singh told in a special byte that the committee has already passed a resolution and has entered into an agreement with an organization of Hoshiarpur for the work of sterilization.
He also appealed that people who love dogs should not feed dogs in public places, but should build "dog houses" in their homes or premises and keep them there. - (EO Kanwaljinder Singh)
It is also important to mention here that the Hon'ble Court has ordered that if any harm is caused by the bite of a stray dog, then the Municipal Committee will be bound to pay compensation of up to ? 10,000/- to the victim.
This problem is no longer just about love or hate for animals, but is directly related to public safety, especially the lives and mental health of innocent children. It is important that the administration takes serious steps on this immediately.
