
Red Cross distributed relief material to rain-affected families in Shanti Nagar.
Hoshiarpur- Heavy rains on 6 July 2025 in the district disrupted life. Waterlogging occurred in many areas, of which Aslamabad area near Shanti Nagar was the most affected. Due to waterlogging in houses and streets, the daily life of the people was completely disrupted and they suffered huge losses.

Taking this situation seriously, a survey campaign was conducted by the Red Cross Society, Hoshiarpur on 7 July on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner-cum-President-District Red Cross Society Ashika Jain. Volunteers, staff and students doing internship in Red Cross participated in this survey.
During the survey, it was revealed that due to rain, traffic in the area had come to a complete halt. Beds, mattresses, clothes and other essential items were destroyed due to waterlogging in people's houses. There was also a huge shortage of food items.
Red Cross Society Secretary Mangesh Sood informed that a list of affected families was prepared by many volunteers doing internship in Red Cross including Akshay Sharma from Punjab University, Chandigarh and Aritrika Dhara from Lovely Professional University. On the basis of this list, as per the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, Red Cross distributed essential items like ration kits, mattresses, hygiene kits and turtle print mosquito nets to the needy.
On this occasion, Red Cross Joint Secretary Aditya Rana, village Sarpanch Jasvir Singh (Jassi), Sandeep Chechi, Pawan Saini and many affected families were present.
Mr. Sood further informed that the operation of Red Cross Society is based on public cooperation and donations. He appealed to the people of the district to contribute to this public service work of Red Cross by providing financial or any other form of assistance during this natural disaster, so that continuous relief can be provided to the victims.
