Patiala, September 4 - The news of rape of a 16-year-old minor girl by a drug-addicted neighbor has come to light in Ghagga police station area of ??the district. The accused committed the incident when the girl was alone at home with her elderly grandmother. It is said that the accused had drunkenly knocked on the door at around two o'clock in the middle of the night, after which she came to the gate, he forcibly took the girl in his arms. The police have registered an FIR against this 26-year-old accused named Gurwinder Singh and arrested him.
The girl's family members had gone to attend a function. The victim girl told the police that her parents and siblings had gone to a relative's house in Malerkotla. On the morning of September 1, everyone left there due to a family function and she was alone at home with her elderly grandmother. The grandmother is unable to walk much due to illness, so is left behind to take care of them.
The accused molested her twice. Ghagga police station SHO Shamsher Singh said that the accused is addicted to drugs and has been arrested.
