Hoshiarpur- Two-day annual "Athletics Meet" was organized in the local Government College under the chairmanship of College Principal Anita Sagar ji with the cooperation of Physical Education Department Head Aruna Rani and Professor Paramjit Kaur. In which running, javelin throw, discus throw, shotput, long jump, sack race, soap and lemon race, three-legged race, frog race were organized.
In which the students participated enthusiastically and demonstrated their skills. Retired Professor Arjun Awardee (Basketball) Dr. Suman Sharma and special guest retired Principal Dr. Savita Sachdeva ji attended the program as chief guest. After the welcome, the chief guest performed the flag hoisting ceremony and the games started and during this the students also did a march past.
On behalf of the college principal, he gave brief information about the guests and thanked them for accepting the invitation to come to the college. The winning students were congratulated on their victory and everyone was motivated to adopt discipline in their lives.
The chief guest motivated the students especially to take care of their food and to participate in sports. Prof. Navdeep Kaur played the role of the stage operator very well. The winning students were honored with medals and certificates by college principal Anita Sagar ji and the chief guests including vice principal Prof. Vijay Kumar and members of the college council.
Student Rajan and student Gurpreet Kaur won the first place in 100 meter race, student Ravinder Kumar and student Gurpreet Kaur won the first place in 200 meter race, student Rajan and student Harpriya won the first place in 400 meter race, student Iqbal Singh and student Harpriya won the first place in 800 meter race. Student Kuber and student Nikita in javelin throw, student Shankar and student Nikita in shotput, student Ravinder Kumar and student Jasleen in long jump, student Ravinder Singh and student Tarisha Gupta in football, student Ravinder Kumar in frog run, student Chamandeep Kaur of Hindi department in lemon run got first place.
Rajan Gadre was selected as the best athlete among boys and Gurpreet Kaur was selected as the best athlete among girls. On this occasion all the staff members and students were present. Head of Physical Education Department Dr. Aruna Rani presented the report related to the department. In the end the national anthem was sung.
