Climate Change: The Wrath of Heat
North India is facing scorching heat these days. Every living being, human, animal, bird and plant in the universe is troubled by this terrible heat. The heat is so intense that in some districts of Punjab and Haryana, the daytime temperature has reached 46° Celsius. Such a terrible form of weather has an adverse effect on our earth and human life. For the last few decades, surprising developments have been seen in the weather.
In the present era, meteorologists talk about global warming, in fact, it is a process of gradual increase in the temperature near the surface of the earth. If we talk about the causes of global warming, then its main reason is the decrease in greenery on the earth day by day. Greenery and plants are the main source of oxygen. They take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Due to this, a natural balance is maintained in the environment. Oxygen is the lifeline of animals and humans. In today's commercial era, humans are blindly destroying forests and other natural resources for their own selfish purposes.
Due to this, the balance of the environment is deteriorating and global warming is increasing day by day. The worst effect of increasing temperature on the earth is on the wind and water. For the last 10-12 years, many negative changes have been seen in the seasons and weather. Due to this change, floods occur in many places due to unseasonal rains. Some areas are suffering from drought during the rainy season.
Since 1950, the ice accumulation on the glaciers has decreased by 60%, due to which the winter season has become shorter. As a result, thousands of deaths are occurring every year in our own country due to heatstroke. Day by day, forests and water resources are decreasing in the name of development all over the world. From 1970 to 2002, 212% of forests and 55% of drinking water reserves have decreased in the world. This is creating great dangers for humanity in the future. As the temperature increases on the earth, the hotter the winds will blow, the problem of drought will increase and the incidents of forest fires will increase.
The increasing industrialization is causing the wastage of natural resources to some extent. Along with this, the use of fossil fuels has increased, due to which harmful gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and methane have increased to dangerous levels in the environment. Industries are the basic identity of any developed country, but the smoke produced from them, which is produced from coal, diesel or other energy sources, also produces dangerous gases. Big industries like cement, steel, electronics, plastic, textile and other related industries are also responsible for increasing this global warming.
The increasing means of transportation and the roads and bridges being built for them are destroying trees and arable land. Development is necessary but for this, it is necessary to maintain a balance with nature and natural resources. Air conditioners and refrigerators installed in homes can provide natural cooling. But dense shade trees are also very important for cool air. So let's make our positive contribution in saving nature.
