Mamdot/Firozpur 21 August:- At around 7:30 am in the border village Mattar Hithar under Ferozepur Rural assembly constituency, water is moving towards the fields at a fast pace due to a 20 feet breach in Lachhman Canal. So far, about 50 to 60 acres of paddy crop have been completely submerged in water.
Despite being informed by the farmers of the area, no administration or any official of the canal department has reached the spot. It is also worth mentioning here that on July 2, about 20 feet breach had occurred in Lachhman Canal at village Rauke Hithar. At that time too, water continued to flow in the canal for two days continuously. Due to which more than 600 acres of paddy crop, fodder of animals and vegetables of poor farmers were completely submerged in the canal water.
