Nawanshahr, December 11:- In view of the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections to be held in the district on December 14, the polling staff was given necessary training during the second rehearsal at the local R.K. Arya College today. During which the election staff was made aware of the rules of the election process in detail.
The polling staff was trained by the master trainer under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner (J) Balbir Raj Singh and Nawanshahr SDM Anamjyot Kaur. Additional Deputy Commissioner Balbir Raj Singh said that after the third training on December 13, the election staff will be sent to the allotted polling booths.
He said that as per the instructions of the State Election Commission, the district administration has made adequate preparations and arrangements to complete the entire election process in a fair and transparent manner. He said that training has been given to the election staff at the level of returning officers in various sub-divisions so that the election process can be carried out in a smooth manner.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Balbir Raj Singh said that after scrutiny of nominations in the district, 48 nominations were found eligible for Zilla Parishad and 305 for Block Samiti. He said that 10 zones have been created for Zilla Parishad and 82 for Panchayat Samiti in the district.
He said that there are a total of 466 Gram Panchayats, 462 polling stations, 633 polling booths and 417240 voters in the district. About the zones created for Zilla Parishad, he said that 3 zones have been created in Nawanshahr, while 1 zone has been created for Saroya, 2 for Balachaur and 4 zones have been created for Banga. Similarly, 25 zones each have been created in Banga and Nawanshahr, 17 in Balachaur and 15 in Saroya for block committees.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that there are a total of 466 Gram Panchayats in the district, out of which 132 are in Nawanshahr, 71 in Saroya, 131 in Balachaur and 132 in Banga. Similarly, out of a total of 633 polling booths in the district, 189 are in Nawanshahr, 89 in Saroya, 148 in Balachaur and 207 in Banga.
The total number of male voters for these elections is 216395 and the number of female voters is 200836, while 9 voters are of the third gender. The total number of male voters in the district is 216395, of which 66611 are in Nawanshahr, 29518 in Saroya, 42800 in Balachaur and 77466 in Banga, while the number of female voters is 63013 in Nawanshahr, 27193 in Saroya, 38414 in Balachaur and 72216 in Banga.
It is worth mentioning that the voting will be held on December 14 from 8 am to 4 pm and the results will be declared on December 17.
