Nawanshahr:- The Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU), Rural Workers' Union, Zamin Pratibha Sangharsh Committee, Democratic Employees' Federation held a meeting at the local Baradari Bagh to prepare for the rally and demonstration being held in Ludhiana on March 22 regarding their demands.
Addressing the meeting, Iftu state president Kulwinder Singh Waraich, PMU leader Hari Ram Rasulpuri, Kiranjit Kaur, Gurdial Rakkar, Asha worker union leader Rajwinder Kaur, street vendor union president Hare Ram said that this rally and demonstration is being held with the demands of repealing the four labor codes, restoring the MGNREGA law, withdrawing the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, mid-day meal, making the raw workers including Asha workers regular, providing permanent employment to every worker and making the minimum wage Rs. 26,000 per month, etc.!
They said that the Modi government at the center has brought 4 labor codes by abolishing 29 pro-labor labor laws to please the corporate houses and domestic and foreign capitalists.
He said that the central government has announced the implementation of these four labor codes from April 1 and the central government is going to implement the developed India ji Ram ji by abolishing the MGNREGA law to take away employment from the workers. He said that with the implementation of the labor code, the democratic right of the workers to form a union and struggle to secure and achieve their rights will be lost.
Instead of increasing the remuneration of work, the working hours will be 8 to 12 hours a day. The labor and employee leaders have called on them to join this protest along with their families to get these anti-labor labor codes repealed to protect their democratic rights.
