Haroli/Una, March 28 (Rajveer Chopra): Amidst growing protests regarding the toll tax at the Himachal-Punjab border in Naya Nangal, the 'Ilaka Bachao Sangharsh Morcha' (Save the Region Struggle Front) has announced plans to stage a massive demonstration on April 1. The Morcha has issued a warning that if immediate action is not taken regarding their demands, the concerned toll plaza will be blocked.
According to reports, there has been long-standing resentment in the region concerning the hike in toll taxes and the resulting financial burden placed upon local residents. Rallying around this issue, various organizations and local residents have united to launch a major agitation.
Office bearers of the Morcha state that they have repeatedly presented their demands to the administration and relevant government departments; however, no concrete solution has emerged thus far. Consequently, they have been compelled to resort to the path of agitation.
It is anticipated that a large number of people from surrounding villages and towns may participate in this demonstration. Should the toll plaza be blocked, traffic movement between Himachal and Punjab could be severely disrupted, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
Meanwhile, in light of the potential protest, the administration remains on high alert and is closely monitoring the situation. The administration has appealed to the public to maintain peace and adhere to law and order.
