Chandigarh:- The Punjab Warehousing Corporation has now rejected the claim made by former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar's family about unfair tenders. After the suicide of the corporation's District Officer Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, Laljit Singh Bhullar had to lose his ministerial post and also face a police case.
A week after the suicide, the corporation has now unofficially said that Laljit Singh Bhullar's father, Sukhdev Singh Bhullar, had raised objections against the allotment of tender to Baba Naga Agri Private Limited, which had no basis. Sources in the Warehousing Corporation say that Baba Naga Agri Private Limited not only offered the site closest to the Patti rail head, but the rental rates offered by this company were much lower than the rates offered by Sukhdev Singh Bhullar. The former minister’s father Sukhdev Singh, opposing the selection of Baba Naga Agri Private Limited as the L-1 bidder, had allegedly demanded a fresh survey to find out the distance of his site from the Patti rail head.
Bhullar’s ??father argued that the distance of his site from the Patti rail head would be less than the distance of Baba Naga’s site.
A senior official said on condition of anonymity that the Baba Naga site was nearby, on the basis of which the company got the work.
The company is to build a warehouse with a capacity of 30,000 metric tonnes. There are allegations that former minister Bhullar was pressurizing deceased officer Gagandeep Singh Randhawa to bypass the rules and allocate this tender to his father.
