Fatehabad, September 16:- A special programme was organised at the Power Grid Corporation of India substation in Fatehabad on the occasion of Hindi Fortnight to hold a discussion on the newly published poetry book ‘Vedna Ke Swar’ by renowned Fatehabad poet Dr. Sudama Shastri. Several scholars and litterateurs shared their views on the book during the programme. The programme was presided over by Power Grid Senior Deputy General Manager Jitendra Kumar, while senior litterateur Dr. Om Prakash Kadian attended as the Chief Guest. Renowned writer and poet Dr. Suman Kadian participated as the Special Guest, while poet Suman Lata ‘Suman’ attended as the specially invited guest. Power Grid engineer Sudhakar Rawat conducted the proceedings.
During the book discussion, Dr. Om Prakash Kadian said that a poet’s heart is filled with sensibilities. When overwhelmed by social and national issues, voices of sensibilities naturally begin to emerge from the poet’s heart. The poet puts those voices into words in the form of poetry on paper. Dr. Sudama Shastri’s newly published book ‘Vedna Ke Swar’ is a river of these sensibilities, in which an abundant stream of poems on social, religious, national and political subjects flows. The poet has compared human life to a train. Through his composition, he has portrayed human life in the following manner: ‘The train of life keeps moving, catch it considering yourself a traveller. You never know when the engine may fail, the game of life is in the hands of God.’ Through this composition, the poet has effectively portrayed the character of human life. Life is transient. With every passing moment, it is moving towards decline. We think that our age is increasing, but in reality it is decreasing. The poet has highlighted this very point.
Dr. Kadian said that ‘Vedna Ke Swar’ is a true mirror of present-day society. Power Grid Deputy General Manager Jitendra Kumar said that through his composition on religious fanaticism, the poet has made religious fanatics understand that religion does not teach us to fight; rather, religion teaches us the path of life. The art of living is itself religion. Even after sitting at the pinnacle of science, animalistic tendencies can rise. The dust accumulated on the mirror of knowledge leads one away from truth. If education does not teach social conduct and behaviour, degrees will remain merely pieces of paper. If service, dedication and sacrifice are not learnt, the wealth that keeps running after us will be all that remains.
Poet Dr. Suman Kadian said that through his composition, the poet has expressed his feelings towards the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while protecting the borders in the following words: ‘I go to sacrifice my head at the border; only then do I wrap myself in the tricolour so that India’s forehead remains held high.’ The poet has expressed the greatness of women through his composition in the following words: ‘Woman, you gave birth to Ram, Krishna and Dayanand. You gave the world sages, ascetics, saints and great souls. You gave martyrs like Rajguru, Sukhdev and Bhagat Singh. You gave birth to great warriors like Lajpat, Subhash and Azad.’ Poet Suman Lata said that Dr. Sudama Shastri’s new book ‘Vedna Ke Swar’ can certainly touch the hearts of readers and contribute towards bringing positive change in society. The guests presented a memento to Dr. Sudama Shastri and wished him a bright future.
