Mansa:- In a significant move to strengthen the scouting movement for active members in Punjab and other states, the Bharat Scouts and Guides Punjab has launched the second edition of the world-renowned book 'Scouting for Boys' (2026). This edition has been brought to readers thanks to the vision and efforts of State Organizing Commissioner, Onkar Singh. It is a translation by Janak Singh, with revisions by S. Hardyal Singh, appearing after a gap of approximately 59 years.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at the State Training Centre, Tara Devi (Shimla), State Chief Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Ball stated that by fulfilling the long-standing demand of teachers and students associated with scouting, Onkar Singh has accomplished another great task. Congratulating the entire scouting family, Dr. Ball expressed confidence that there will no longer be a shortage of scouting literature in Punjabi.
Mini-story writer Principal Darshan Singh Bareta drew the audience's attention to the book's printing quality, cover design, and newly included items, while congratulating Editor Onkar Singh for establishing another milestone.
Speaking at this emotional event, Editor Onkar Singh shared, "During my twenty-five-year journey in scouting, I have accomplished many big tasks with the help of the scouting family, but fulfilling the dream I have nurtured for the last decade gives me immense peace today. This book will become a medium to understand every aspect of scouting in detail in our mother tongue, Punjabi."
The event was attended by Karnail Singh from the National Headquarters (Delhi), Jagtar Singh (Sangrur), Gurpreet Sekhon, Nita Kashyap (SOC Guide), Manjit Kaur, Deepanshu, Jatinder Singh, Sir Buta Singh, Father K.P. John, Desraj Singh, Nirlep Kaur (Mansa), Anu Malhotra, Gurvinder Singh, Dr. Satantar Singh, Nishan Singh, and 102 teachers from various schools, colleges, and universities across Punjab who had arrived for training.
