Hoshiarpur:- Hoshiarpur and Tanda police today demolished an unauthorized construction in Chandigarh Colony of Tanda as part of a joint campaign to eliminate illegal encroachments by drug traffickers under the 'War Against Drugs' campaign launched by the Punjab government. This illegal construction was done by Kamlesh wife Jeevan Lala resident of Ward No. 11, Chandigarh Colony.
Giving more information in this regard, SP (PBI) Major Singh said that according to the instructions of SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik, action was taken according to legal procedure in the presence of civil administration. He said that a total of 16 cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against Kamlesh Rani in different cases and at this time this smuggler is in jail. 
He reiterated that on the instructions of the Punjab government, the Hoshiarpur police will continue to take action against drug addiction and illegal possessions. He appealed to the people to report such illegal activities to the police. He assured that immediate and strict action would be taken against the culprits. He warned the drug traffickers to either leave drug trafficking and do something else, or be ready for stricter action. 
He said that the local people were very disturbed by these smugglers, for which he has welcomed this action of the Punjab government. People said that they welcome the efforts being made by the Punjab government to eliminate drug addiction in the state.
