Hoshiarpur: Under the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign launched by the Punjab government to eradicate drugs, the Hoshiarpur police, in an effort to eliminate drug trafficking and remove illegal encroachments by drug traffickers, demolished an unauthorized structure in Mohalla Valmiki, near Ghanta Ghar in the city. Giving detailed information in this regard, SP (PBI) Major Singh said that legal action was initiated under the instructions of SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik, in the presence of the civil administration.
He said that a total of nine cases have been registered against Keshav Gandhi alias Krishna, Ashish Marwaha alias Lundi, and Rubal of the said locality under the NDPS Act. He said that under the directions of the Punjab government, the Hoshiarpur police will continue its action against drug trafficking and illegal encroachments. He appealed to the public to report such illegal activities to the police.
He assured that swift and strict action would be taken against those found guilty. He warned drug traffickers to either abandon drug trafficking or be prepared for the strictest action. He said that the local people were very troubled by these traffickers and welcomed the action taken by the Punjab government. He said that they welcome the efforts being made by the Punjab government to eradicate drugs from the state.
