Sangrur:- While informing the press, Dr. Ravjot Grewal IPS, SSP Sangrur said that while taking action under the campaign 'War Against Drugs' run against drugs by District Police Sangrur, 02 drug smugglers were apprehended and from their possession 560 grams heroin/chitta, 02 pistols .32 bore along with 02 live cartridges and 01 pistol .30 bore brand PX5 along with 01 live cartridge were recovered.
Giving more information Dr. Ravjot Grewal IPS said that under the supervision of Shri Davinder Attri PPS, Captain Police (Investigation) Sangrur, under the leadership of Shri Dalbir Singh PPS, Deputy Captain Police Sub Division Sangrur and Shri Sukhdev Singh PPS, Deputy Captain Police (Detective) Sangrur, the team of Inspector Sandeep Singh, Incharge CIA Bahadur Singh Wala got success when on date 01.08.2026 during patrolling near Military Area, Haripura Basti Sangrur accused Simranjit Singh alias Mogli son of Baldev Singh resident of Kishanpura Road Sangrur was apprehended and from his possession 510 grams heroin/chitta was recovered and case No. 139 dated 01.08.2026 u/s 21,29/61/85 NDPS Act, 25/54/59 Arms Act Police Station City Sangrur was registered and investigation was taken up.
During investigation of the said case adding offence 29 NDPS Act, accused Gurpreet Singh alias Bhairo son of Gurjant Singh resident of Ajit Nagar Sangrur was nominated and arrested from Sunami Gate Sangrur. During police remand from accused Gurpreet Singh alias Bhairo aforesaid, on his identification from near Sohian Road, near dirty drain, from his possession 50 grams heroin, 02 pistols .32 bore along with 02 live cartridges and 01 pistol .30 bore brand PX5 along with 01 live cartridge were recovered. Remand of the accused is being obtained and deep interrogation is being done, more important revelations are likely.

**Criminal Record:
Accused Gurpreet Singh alias Bhairo was doing large scale drug smuggling business since a long time, against whom earlier also 17 cases are registered under different offences and he had gone to Bombay and Gujarat side being absconder and wanted in many cases. Who has now been arrested in the said case achieving major success, investigation is ongoing.
