Sangrur:- While giving information to the press, Dr. Ravjot Grewal IPS, SSP Sangrur said that during the campaign launched by District Sangrur Police under "Yudh Nashian Virudh" and "Pindan De Pahredar" and against bad elements, during the last week from 21.07.2026 to 27.07.2026, the police of Sub Division Sangrur, while taking action, registered 01 case under drugs, arrested 03 accused and recovered 50 intoxicating tablets and 07 grams heroin/chitta from them and 04 persons trapped in the quagmire of drugs were given medicine to get rid of addiction. 12 accused have also been arrested under heinous crime and other offences.
About 163 traffic challans have been issued under various offences of vehicles violating traffic rules. By checking suspicious persons, action was taken against 168 persons under 172 BNSS and preventive action was taken against 10 persons.
Along with appealing to the general public to cooperate in the anti-drug campaign, the general public and youth are being made aware about giving timely information to the police regarding drugs by holding meetings with panchayats/sports clubs/respectable persons about the ill effects of drugs, so that the menace of drugs can be eradicated from the root. On getting information against those doing drug trade and bad elements, immediate legal action is being taken and concrete efforts are being made to prevent drugs. War against drugs is continuing.
