Haroli/Una, February 15 (Chopra): Under the guidance of District Police Chief Mr. Sachin, the Special Investigation Team of Una District Police is continuously tightening its grip on drug mafias. In this connection, today, based on a tip-off, the Special Investigation Branch team, led by Inspector Sunil Sankhyan, successfully seized 36 grams of hashish, 94 grams of opium, 228 grams of poppy husk, 40,000 rupees in cash and an electronic weighing scale from a shopkeeper in Tahlibal.
Preliminary investigation revealed the young man's name to be Anil Sharma, son of Yashpal Sharma, resident of village Tahlibal, District Reasi, Jammu. He has been running a grocery shop in Tahlibal for several years. He was also jailed recently in a hashish case.
District Chief Sachin stated that the young generation is risking their future by falling into the trap of drug dealers. All parents should come forward and help eradicate this evil practice.
The police are investigating where the accused youth brought the consignment of drugs from and who his network is with in Una.
The Special Investigation Unit has registered a case and handed it over to the team from Tahliwal Police Station for further investigation. Superintendent of Police Sachin stated that the district police is continuously working with vigilance and discretion against drug dealers, putting such individuals behind bars.
