Una, September 14:- As part of the public awareness campaign against drug abuse being conducted under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, an ‘Anti-Chitta Walkathon’ will be organised in Una on September 16. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal briefed the media about the arrangements related to the walkathon during a press conference held at his office on Monday. Additional Superintendent of Police Ajay Rana was also present on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Chief Minister Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri, MLAs and other dignitaries will participate in the programme. The Chief Minister will interact with the youth, walk alongside them during the walkathon and deliver a message of awareness against drug abuse. During the event, he will also administer an oath to the participants against drug abuse and for environmental protection.
The programme will begin at 8 a.m. on September 16 at Indira Gandhi Sports Ground. The event will commence with a performance by the renowned police band ‘Harmony of the Pines’. After around two hours of cultural programmes, the walkathon will proceed from Indira Gandhi Sports Ground to ISBT Una and then return to conclude at Indira Gandhi Sports Ground. The Chief Minister will flag off the walkathon at 10 a.m.
A large number of young people, including students from Classes 9 to 12, ITI students and college students, will participate in the walkathon. There will also be wide participation from social and voluntary organisations as well as the general public. The Deputy Commissioner said that the active participation of youth is important in turning this public awareness campaign against drug abuse into a mass movement.
The Deputy Commissioner urged educational institutions to have students participate in the walkathon carrying banners of their respective institutions. He appealed to them not to bring boards or wooden banners that could cause injury to any participant. An appeal has also been made to put anti-chitta awareness-related banners on buses arriving from different locations.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the people of the district to participate in the walkathon in maximum numbers. He said that the participation of every individual is necessary in this fight against drug abuse. He called upon the residents of the district to become part of this public awareness campaign being organised in Una on September 16 and contribute towards strengthening the collective resolve against drug abuse.

Foundation Stone of Rampur Bridge, Inauguration of BDO Office Una:-
After the Anti-Chitta and Environmental Protection Awareness Walkathon, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will lay the foundation stone of the Rampur Bridge at 11.35 a.m. He will also inaugurate the BDO Office Una.

Special Traffic Arrangements in Una on September 16:- 
Additional Superintendent of Police Ajay Rana said that special traffic arrangements will be implemented in the district headquarters from 8 a.m. on September 16 to ensure smooth traffic movement during the walkathon and prevent inconvenience to the general public. These arrangements will remain in force until the students and other participants taking part in the walkathon have safely departed. He urged vehicle drivers to use the designated alternative routes during this period and avoid bringing vehicles towards Una city unnecessarily.

Hamirpur-Una-Chandigarh Route:- 
Vehicles travelling from Hamirpur to Chandigarh via Una should, as far as possible, avoid coming towards Una during this period and use the Bhota-Ghumarwin-Kiratpur four-lane route. Vehicles travelling from Bangana towards Chandigarh can use the Bhakra-Nangal Road via Thanakalan-Bihadu-Pirnigah-Basoli-Chatara-Raipur Maidan. Similarly, vehicles coming from Chandigarh towards Bangana or Hamirpur will proceed towards Thanakalan via the Bahdala or Bihadu route.

Hamirpur-Amb Route:- 
Vehicles travelling from Hamirpur to Amb or from Amb towards Hamirpur will use the Baduhi-Jol-Khurwai route.

Kangra-Amb-Una-Chandigarh Route:- 
Vehicles travelling from Kangra to Chandigarh via Amb will use the alternative route from Jhalera through Ghaluval, Haroli, Tahliwal and Santoshgarh to Ajouli Mod. Vehicles travelling from Chandigarh towards Kangra and from Chandigarh towards Amb can also use the same alternative route.

Baddi-Una Route:- 
Vehicles travelling from Baddi towards Una will use the Mehatpur-Bahdala-Janakaur-Rampur route. One-way traffic arrangements will remain in force on this route. Vehicles travelling from Una towards Baddi can use the Rampur-Janakaur-Nangra-Santoshgarh-Ajouli Mod route.
For normal bus route services arriving in Una from different directions on September 16, four temporary bus stands have been designated. These include Bahdala for buses arriving from the Mehatpur side, a location near the Rampur-Haroli Bridge for those arriving from the Haroli direction, Jhalera for buses arriving from the Amb side, and the Old Bus Stand for those arriving from the Bangana side. HRTC shuttle bus services will be available from these locations for travel to Una headquarters.
Parking arrangements have been made at the Old Bus Stand Una and along the Galuwa route and ground for participants arriving in small vehicles.
In addition, the road from DC Chowk Una to Rakkar will remain a no-traffic zone from 8 a.m. until all students and participants have safely departed. During this period, one-way traffic arrangements will remain in force on the Rampur-DC Chowk-Jhalera route, with vehicles allowed to travel only towards Jhalera.
The Additional Superintendent of Police said that there will be no restriction on the movement of emergency and essential service vehicles.

Drone Surveillance, Robust Law and Order Arrangements:- 
Ajay Rana said that adequate police personnel will be deployed during the walkathon to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of participants. The event venue and walkathon route will also be monitored through drones. Necessary arrangements have been ensured for traffic management, security and dealing with emergency situations.

Adequate Arrangements for Drinking Water, Toilets and Health Facilities:- 
Six drinking water points will be set up for the convenience of participants. In addition, mobile toilet units have been installed and adequate toilet facilities have been arranged. Three ambulances will remain deployed for health services. Three teams of the Health Department will also be deployed. Refreshments will be provided to participants during their arrival and return.
