Una, February 13: Una district has achieved a remarkable achievement in rural drinking water supply, providing 100% functional household tap connections to all rural households. This was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal while presiding over a meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission.
Reviewing the schemes implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the achievement of 100% functional tap connections was achieved through the collective efforts of the District Administration, the Jal Shakti Department, and the rural community, in accordance with the commitment of the State Government.
He directed that while maintaining this achievement, equal priority should be given to the quality, regularity of water supply, and long-term water source conservation.
The Deputy Commissioner clarified that ensuring the continuous availability of clean, adequate, and uninterrupted drinking water to every household every day is the administration's top priority. For this, the ground inspection system, technical monitoring and accountability mechanism are being continuously strengthened. He also gave instructions to complete the pending entries on the e-Gram Swaraj portal in a timely manner and to effectively implement regular water quality testing.
Member Secretary and Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Shashi Kant informed the meeting that functional tap connections have reached all the rural families of the district. He also presented detailed information about the physical and financial progress of the schemes, institutional coverage and water quality monitoring system.
All the Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti Department Circle Una, Deputy Director Higher Education Anil Kumar, Deputy Director Primary Education Som Lal Dhiman and officers of various departments were present in the meeting.
