Una, December 5: The Una District Administration has immediately shut down the power supply to the Sutlej Stone Crusher and Screening Plant at Lalri for violating the mining lease conditions and the Himachal Pradesh Mineral Rules. The administration has completely banned new crushing activity there, although loading and transportation of previously stored material will continue to be permitted to allow for stock disposal.
District Mining Officer Neeraj Kant stated that the police had stopped four tipper trucks for inspection on suspicion of overloading. A significant discrepancy was found between the permits presented by the drivers and the actual load weights recorded in the documents, confirming overloading and illegal transportation of mineral material. This is a serious violation of mining rules and lease conditions, resulting in loss of government revenue.
Given the seriousness of the matter, the Superintendent of Police recommended action to the Deputy Commissioner. Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal directed the Mining Department to take strict action. In compliance with the directive, the Mining Department took the necessary action and disconnected the power supply to the crusher unit through the Electricity Department.
New crushing activity will be completely prohibited. However, loading and transportation of material already stored on the plant premises will remain permitted to ensure stock disposal.
It is noteworthy that the administration has previously taken strict action against SS Stone Crusher operating in the Chhetran area by suspending its lease and disconnecting its power supply for violations.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that the district administration's "zero tolerance" policy will continue regarding illegal mining, violations, and overloading. Strict administrative and legal action will be taken against any unit violating the rules.
