Mohali:- Circle President Gurbaksh Singh, Chief Advisor Lakha Singh, Legal Advisor Jatinder Singh, Pensioners Association Circle President Vijay Kumar, Division President Zorawar Singh from Technical Services Union Mohali jointly condemned the decision of the Punjab Government and Powercom management to sell the land of Bathinda Thermal Colony in strong words.
The organizations decided to jointly hold rallies at the sub-division/division level on 12/12/2025 and burn the ashes in protest against the Punjab Government and Powercom management. The leaders said that the central government is continuously amending the Electricity Act 2003 to implement privatization policies under imperialist guidelines and now steps are being taken to completely privatize the electricity sector by passing the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025. The Punjab government is also taking decisions to sell the lands of the electricity department under the same policy.
The speakers stressed on repealing the Seed Bill 2025 brought by the anti-farmer Center and restoring the Kirat laws. By implementing imperialist guidelines, privatization is being done by the Center and the Punjab government to increase the loot previously done by corporate houses under the hypocritical declaration of reforms. All the ruling class parliamentary parties are united in implementing the anti-people privatization policy.
It is under these imperialist guidelines that the Punjab government has accelerated the solution of privatization of the electricity corporation by implementing the Electricity Act 2003 and 2025. The leaders appealed to all the farmers, workers and employees of Punjab that there is a need to join in strong preparations for a massive, joint, long and intense struggle against this devastating attack of privatization, because of the kind of steps that the Central Government and the Punjab Government are taking in the past few days.
It is clear from both of them that they are engaged in preparations to soon take over the electricity corporation to serve the corporate houses. They said that these steps being taken as a requirement of privatization are being taken in a very conspiratorial and deceitful manner. There is a need to make the struggle against privatization successful by making it unsuccessful. In this situation, the first need is to unite the electricity employees divided in different organizations and the fraternal organizations on a common struggle platform.
In this situation, this is the only right path for all the electricity employees, by following which we will be able to save the electricity department and save our jobs. The leaders appealed to all the farmers' organizations to participate in the protests against the sale of land of Bathinda Thermal Colony under the privatization policy wherever possible. The leaders also appealed to all the organizations working in the power sector to implement the policy of joint struggles against this decision and participate in the struggle.
Apart from these, Jagdeep Singh, Harbans Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Bikram Singh, Ajit Singh, Jagjit Singh, Harjit Singh, Saudagar Singh, Paramjit Singh, SCO Sandeep Nagpal, Sohan Singh, Satwant Singh, Surinder Malli, CHB contract workers' organization leader Ekam Sidhu and the circle secretary warned the government of a fierce struggle.
