Una, October 25 – Under Phase II of the Himachal Pradesh Crop Diversification Promotion Project (JICA), the Block Project Management Unit, Una, organized a one-day training workshop at Sub-Project Babehad. The workshop was organized on the topic of "Crop Pattern Management for Farmer Groups." The workshop was chaired by Block Project Manager, Dr. Gulshan Mankotia.
He discussed the project's outline and objectives in detail with the farmers. Dr. Mankotia explained that this project is being implemented with the aim of improving farmers' farming, livelihoods, and living standards.
He provided detailed information to the farmers about the importance of crop rotation, measures to maintain soil fertility, and cropping systems that yield higher yields and profits. He emphasized that adopting the right cropping pattern not only maintains the land's fertility but also reduces production costs and maximizes profits.
During the program, farmers were also made aware of scientific farming practices for pulses, oilseeds, and vegetable crops.
Agricultural expert Manisha Sharma informed farmers about the importance of kitchen gardens and encouraged them to adopt organic and poison-free farming. She provided scientific information related to garlic cultivation to farmers and also distributed seeds for garlic cultivation.
On this occasion, Village Panchayat Pradhan Rishi Rana, Krishak Vikas Sangh President Tilak Raj, and the farmers present expressed their gratitude to the Zika project team and said that such training camps are extremely useful for farmers, as they help them connect with scientific agricultural techniques.
