Karnal, July 8: Two separate incidents—one late Tuesday night and the other on Wednesday—have shaken the district. In one case, during a domestic dispute, a 17-year-old minor son struck his father on the head with a stick while trying to protect his mother and sister, resulting in the father's death. In the second incident, a 34-year-old man was found hanging in his home. The police are investigating both cases separately.
Rajendra (55), a driver and resident of Kutail village under the Madhuban police station area, returned home late Tuesday night under the influence of alcohol. It is alleged that he began assaulting his wife and daughter over an issue. Hearing the commotion, his 17-year-old son intervened, but the father started scuffling with him as well.
During the altercation, the son picked up a stick lying nearby and struck his father on the head. Rajendra collapsed on the spot due to the severe injury. Family members rushed him to the Karnal Trauma Center, where doctors declared him dead. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Madhuban police arrived at the hospital and later inspected the scene to gather evidence.
During the investigation, the police learned that an attempt had been made to clean up the blood at the scene. The police have taken the minor into custody and initiated questioning. Station House Officer (SHO) Lakhbir Singh stated that preliminary investigations indicate the son had indeed struck the blow with the stick. The police are currently examining all aspects of the case, and further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.
