Sangrur, August 29:- With the aim of preventing road accidents, smoothening traffic and ensuring the safety of life and property of the common people, Sangrur Traffic Police launched a special campaign against vehicle drivers violating traffic rules. Under the leadership of Traffic Incharge SI Pawan Kumar, special checkpoints were set up at Kunran Point on Barnala Road and vehicles were checked thoroughly.
During this special checking campaign, the police team kept a special eye on drivers driving at high speed. During the investigation, challans were issued on the spot to about 30 vehicle drivers who were driving at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit. The traffic police also made the vehicle drivers aware to follow traffic rules and avoid negligence while driving on the road.
According to the traffic police, speeding is a major cause of road accidents. Over-speeding not only reduces control over the vehicle but also increases the risk of loss of life in the event of an accident. Therefore, vehicle drivers should prioritize their own safety and the safety of other people on the road over reaching their destination quickly.
On this occasion, Traffic Incharge Pawan Kumar said that traffic rules have been made for the convenience and safety of people and it is the responsibility of every vehicle driver to follow them. He said that driving at high speed can pose a serious threat not only to the driver but also to other people.
He appealed to the general public to follow the prescribed speed limit while driving, not to violate traffic signals and not to use mobile phones while driving. He also said that two-wheeler drivers must use helmets and four-wheeler drivers must fasten seat belts.
The Traffic Incharge said that to ensure road safety, such checking operations will be continued by the Traffic Police in the coming days as well. Strict action will be taken against those violating traffic rules, especially over-speeding, reckless driving and other traffic rules.
Appealing to the vehicle drivers, he said that the purpose of the police action is not to harass people, but to ensure safe traffic on the roads and save precious lives from accidents. He said that responsible driving of every person can play an important role in reducing road accidents.
During this checking and blockade operation, Traffic Incharge Pawan Kumar was accompanied by ASI Ram Pratap, Head Constable Pargat Singh and Head Constable Sukhdeep Kaur. Along with checking the vehicles, the Traffic Police also made people aware about the road safety rules.
