Una, 14 October:- A three-storey building for the Himachal Pradesh State Scheduled Castes Commission will be constructed in Rampur at a cost of Rs. 7.38 crore. Twelve kanal of land has already been transferred in the name of the Commission for the construction, while Rs. 1.98 crore has been sanctioned for the first phase. The tender process for the construction work will begin soon. Commission Chairman and former minister Kuldeep Kumar shared this information on Wednesday.
Taking a step forward towards the construction of the building, officials of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department handed over the relevant file and necessary records to the Commission Chairman on Wednesday. The proposed building will be named “Aayog Bhawan”.
Kuldeep Kumar thanked Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for initiating the process to provide a permanent building to the Commission. He said that the building would provide the Commission with a permanent office in Una. This would give the office, which is currently operating from another building, its own premises and facilitate the Commission’s functioning.
He said that the State Scheduled Castes Commission works to raise the concerns of members of the Scheduled Castes community before the government and facilitate their resolution. The availability of a permanent building would make it easier for people to approach the Commission with their grievances and facilitate the conduct of official work. The state government is committed to the welfare of deprived and needy sections of society and to integrating them into the mainstream of development.
Commission member and advocate Dr. Vijay Dogra, Commission member and advocate Shalini Jamwal, Member Secretary Vishrut Bharti, Executive Engineer of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department Rajesh Rana, architect Rajendra Kumar, and other officials and employees were present on the occasion.
