Fatehabad: An important meeting of various organizations was held at the union office located in the Electricity Board building in Fatehabad to discuss preparations for the nationwide strike called by central trade unions and various employee organizations on February 12.  Representatives from Sarva Karmachari Sangh, CITU, AITUC, INTUC, Retired Employees Association, and ICTU, along with workers from various projects, participated in the meeting. Employee and labor leaders unanimously stated that the policies of the central and state BJP governments are anti-labor, anti-farmer, and anti-employee, pushing the common people towards slavery.
The meeting demanded the immediate repeal of the four labor codes implemented after abolishing 29 labor laws. They also demanded that the minimum wage be set at ?30,000, and that all contractual employees, including Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, mid-day meal workers, forest workers, and rural sanitation workers, be made permanent. They called for the restoration of the old pension scheme and a halt to the privatization of the public sector. They also demanded a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), the repeal of the electricity bill and the seed bill, and the cancellation of the VB-G Ram Ji scheme.
Addressing the meeting, Rajesh Chobara, Munshiram Kamboj, Subhash Chandra Chauhan, Begraj, and other leaders said that the labor codes implemented from November 21, 2025, are a step towards making workers slaves of corporations. They alleged that the Haryana government has changed the right to an 8-hour workday, won through movements, to 10 hours. The leaders said that fundamental rights such as the right to form unions and the right to strike are also being snatched away.
Several prominent figures, including Bhup Singh Bhadolawali, Gagandeep Kaur, Harpal Singh, Madan Singh, Ramniwas Sharma, Rajpal Mitathal, Sunita, and Suman, were present at the meeting. The leaders called upon thousands of workers and farmers to take to the streets on February 12 to protest against the government's policies.
