Nawanshahr, October 30 (Jatinder Pal Singh Kaler):- Another incident of alleged disrespect towards Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar has been reported in Ludhiana, once again raising concern and anger across Punjab. The reported incident marks the third such occurrence in Ludhiana. It is being claimed that this is the 14th incident of its kind in Punjab, making the situation a matter of serious concern for the state.
These incidents are not merely cases of damage or interference with a statue. Disrespect towards Dr. Ambedkar is not an insult to just one individual or a particular section of society; it is also seen as an attack on constitutional values, equality, justice and social dignity. Babasaheb devoted his entire life to securing the rights of disadvantaged communities, promoting education and advancing social equality. Any act that hurts his dignity also hurts the conscience of society as a whole.
Strong resentment has been witnessed among people following the incident. Various organisations and social leaders have strongly condemned it and demanded that such incidents should no longer be tolerated.
The Misl Satluj Party has strongly condemned the incident. Tejwinder Singh Teji Mangat Railmajra, President of the party's Doaba Zone, said that the Ludhiana Police Administration must take concrete steps to prevent such incidents. He demanded that the accused be identified immediately and strictest possible action be taken against them in accordance with the law, so that no one dares to commit such a heinous act in the future.
Teji Mangat said that Babasaheb belongs to everyone and respecting him is the duty of every Indian. He said that if the accused are not punished, people's faith in the law will be shaken. Warning the administration, he said that the matter should not be taken lightly and the accused should be arrested and brought to justice as soon as possible.
