Hoshiarpur - Forester Surinderpal Jeet Singh, posted in Mahilpur town of Hoshiarpur district, was arrested red-handed by the Vigilance Department while accepting a bribe of ?15,000. DSP Mandeep Singh Sekhon stated that Tarlochan Singh, son of Rashpal Singh, a resident of Thidan village, had filed a complaint with the Vigilance Department alleging that forest department employees had confiscated his woodcutting equipment.
He alleged that the employees falsely accused him of cutting government timber and demanded money in exchange for returning his equipment. According to the complaint, the deal was agreed upon for ?27,000, of which ?12,000 had been paid upfront, and the remaining ?15,000 was to be paid as a bribe. Acting on this complaint, the Vigilance Department immediately arrested Forester Surinderpal Jeet Singh red-handed while accepting a bribe of ?15,000. Legal action against the accused is currently underway.
