Karnal, November 7: Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh stated that the national song Vande Mataram played a crucial role in awakening the nation's independence. This song awakened the spirit of independence in the national consciousness and united the entire nation. Written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1886, dedicated to the motherland, the song became an integral part of the freedom struggle. At that time, every program began and concluded with this song.
DC Uttam Singh was speaking as the chief guest at a district-level program organized in the auditorium of Kalpana Chawla Medical College on Friday to mark the 150th anniversary of the song Vande Mataram. He inaugurated the program by lighting a lamp and offering flowers to a portrait of Mother India. He also visited an exhibition on Vande Mataram organized by the Information, Public Relations, and Language Department. During the program, he listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's live address. Cultural performances related to the song Vande Mataram were given by various school children during the program.
He said that today, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the national song, the significance of the song is being remembered across the country. This song was first published in the novel Anandmath in 1886. Arvind Ghosh described this song as the mantra of India's liberation. This song was on the lips of every Indian during the freedom movement. This song gave courage and self-confidence, which helped everyone participate together in the freedom struggle.
He said that the song Vande Mataram instills the spirit of Swadeshi, self-respect, and service in every Indian. It is not just a song, it is the soul of the country. Just as the national anthem represents the unity of the country, similarly the national song Vande Mataram reflects the spirituality of the nation. He called upon everyone to imbibe the spirit of the song in their lives.
He said that this song is even more relevant today than it was 150 years ago. Today, when we talk about moving from a developing to a developed India, we must adopt Swadeshi and contribute to this path. He called upon the youth to adopt the spirit of service and dedication in their lives. This can only benefit society and the country. This is not only our social responsibility but also our moral responsibility. We must incorporate the spirit of the national anthem in our social lives.
