Una, December 5: The district administration's efforts to control encroachment and haphazard parking in the main markets of Una district are ongoing. As part of these efforts, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal visited the Mehtpur market on Friday.
He conducted a detailed inspection of the area from the Mehtpur main market to the PHC Basdehada and also reviewed potential locations for the proposed no-parking/no-vending zone from the Mehtpur barrier to the industrial area.
It is noteworthy that this system has already been implemented in Una city and the Bangana main market. It will also be implemented in other main markets of the district to provide convenience to the public and to alleviate haphazard parking, encroachment, and chaos.
**Only registered street vendors will be permitted to do business at designated locations**
The Deputy Commissioner clarified that only registered street vendors will be permitted to do business at designated locations in the Mehtpur market. He informed that the Mehtpur vegetable market has been relocated near the community hall, and the old market site has been converted into a parking zone.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the administration is continuously taking concrete steps to facilitate pedestrians, remove encroachments, and facilitate traffic flow. He appealed to the general public and vendors to cooperate with the administration to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe traffic system in the district.
During the inspection, Junior Engineer Prabhas Sharma of the Mehtpur-Basdehada Municipal Council, Work Supervisor Dinesh Kumar, police officers, and representatives of the local Chamber of Commerce were also present.
