Garhshankar, February 10:- Teachers of the block at Government Senior Secondary School Boda (Garhshankar) opposed the government's decision to link promotions with TET examination. During this, teachers under the leadership of Garhshankar Block-1 President Pawan Kumar Goyal and Block-2 President Ashwani Rana burned copies of government letters issued regarding TET examination and raised slogans against the Central and Punjab governments.
Addressing the gathering, the leaders said that according to the new decision, now it is mandatory to pass TET for any kind of promotion. They said that all the rules and conditions are followed while appointing teachers, but arbitrariness is being done in promotions. The leaders alleged that the government is deliberately imposing such conditions to confuse, harass and divide the teachers into old and new. He said that the teachers' unions will not tolerate this unnecessary condition at any cost and the struggle will continue.
On this occasion, the leaders also highlighted the long-pending demands like restoration of the old pension scheme, release of pending dearness allowance (DA), restoration of allowances and implementation of central pay scale. He said that big rallies will be held in Sri Anandpur Sahib to put pressure on these demands and to protest the conditions imposed on promotions.
On this occasion, a large number of teachers including Lecturer Naresh Kumar, Headmaster Baljit Singh, Headmaster Sandeep Singh Badesron, Bhag Singh, Ram Saroop, Harpal Sahota, Parminder Pakhowal, Satpal Minhas etc. were present.
