Patiala, July 30:- Sweeper Union Municipal Corporation Patiala, under the leadership of President Babu Ram Babbu, took out a massive protest rally in the city in support of Punjab Bandh and against the lathi charge on outsourced sanitation workers who were struggling for their demands in Barnala. A large number of sanitation workers participated in the rally and raised strong slogans against Punjab Police, Barnala. Senior leaders of Kisan Union Ugraha also extended their support to the rally.
The protest rally started from the office of Municipal Corporation Patiala and ended near the old bus stand via Ayurvedic College Road, Modi College Road, Anardana Chowk, Dharampura Bazaar, Shere Punjab Market and Sheranwala Gate.
During the rally, Valmiki Samaj leaders Jatinder Prince, Vinay Paroche, Naresh Kumar Bobby, Jaswinder Sablu, Sonu Sangar, Rajesh Gharu, Rajesh Kumar Kala, Krishan Kumar Kaka and Vikas Gill along with others also participated and protested against the Barnala Police.
Speaking on the occasion, Sweeper Union Municipal Corporation President Babu Ram Babbu said that the lathi charge on sanitation workers in Barnala has created huge protest in the entire Valmiki community. He demanded that the police officers responsible for this incident be immediately dismissed from service and a case be registered against them under the SC/ST Act.
He also demanded that the government immediately issue a notification regarding the regularization of the unskilled sanitation workers who have been serving across Punjab for the last 20 years.
On this occasion, a large number of sanitation workers and social leaders including Chairman Sanjay Kangra, senior leaders Sanjay Kalyan, Pawan Daroga, Baljinder Daroga, Kamal Daroga, Makhan Daroga, Rajiv Daroga, Rahul Daroga, Darshan, Sandeep, Hem Raj, Sanjay, Netar, Vinod, Raju, Kuldeep Kaka, Shubham, Dharmendra, Mangat Ram Kalyan, Ashok Ekta, Gursevak Gaggu, Sham Lal, Rohit Dhadi, Vikram Godial, Shekhar, Ajay Sirswal, Manjit Singh, Harmeet Kala, Ashok Vaid, Bunty Sangar were present.
