Jaito, February 17:- The successes of the recently concluded 'Second Asian Junior Soft Tennis Championship 2026' at Ludhiana and the excellent performance of Punjabi players have created a new atmosphere of sports in the state. While reviewing this championship, eminent sports lover and senior Akali leader Narinder Singh MGA, who was present as the chief guest, said that this tournament will prove to be a milestone for the emerging sports like soft tennis in Punjab.
Sardar Narinder Singh specially met the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Soft Tennis Association, Mr. Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani and discussed the technical aspects of the game and future strategies. He said that the competition of Punjabi boys with players from countries like Japan, Korea and Cambodia is proof that we have no dearth of talent. Especially, Punjab's Jaiwant Singh Grewal winning a gold, a silver and a bronze medal in this Asian Championship is a historic achievement for the entire state.
He further said that the associations of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab will jointly make such joint efforts so that the youth of North India can be given international training in soft tennis. He said that only the excitement in the sports fields can keep the youth of Punjab away from the evils of drugs. Sardar MGA assured that in the coming time, special camps will be organized in every district of Punjab to promote this game.
On this occasion, Sardar Narinder Singh announced that the winning Punjabi players of the Asian Championship will be specially honored by the Punjab Rural Development Society (NGO). He said that the organization is always ready to encourage the emerging players.
