Una, July 8:- The Sub-Divisional Administration, Una, is fully prepared to deal with the ongoing monsoon season. Chairing a review meeting on monsoon preparedness on Wednesday, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil), Una, Abhishek Mittal, directed all concerned departments to remain on alert and respond effectively to any emergency situation. He said that the safety of life and property is the highest priority and stressed the need for close coordination among all departments to ensure prompt action.
The SDM instructed officials to maintain continuous surveillance over waterlogging, landslide-prone and other vulnerable locations. He directed that people living near seasonal streams, rivers and drains should be alerted, and arrangements should be made to shift them to safer locations whenever necessary.
He instructed the National Highways Authority, the Public Works Department, the Municipal Corporation, and other concerned departments to ensure regular cleaning of drains, culverts and water drainage systems, remove silt and debris, and closely monitor vulnerable roads and buildings. Departments were also directed to identify and remove dry and dangerous trees in a timely manner.
During the meeting, emphasis was also laid on ensuring the availability of tarpaulins, food supplies, blankets, LPG cylinders and other essential materials for relief and rescue operations. The Health Department was directed to maintain adequate stocks of essential medicines and anti-snake venom and to regularly monitor the quality of drinking water to prevent water-borne diseases.
The Electricity Board was instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the monsoon and keep emergency repair teams ready, while the Jal Shakti Department was directed to maintain smooth drinking water supply and an efficient drainage system.
Abhishek Mittal informed that the District Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is functioning round the clock. He urged people to immediately report any disaster or emergency to the Control Room. The meeting was attended by DSP Ajay Thakur, Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Manoj Kumar, BMO Mehatpur-Basdehra Dr. Ram Pal Sharma, and officials from the Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department, Electricity Board and other concerned departments.
