Nawanshahr:- A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh to strictly implement road safety related rules in the district and to review the District Road Safety Committee and Safe School Vehicle Scheme. In which officers of the concerned departments participated.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that strictness should be used to make the general public fully comply with traffic rules. He obtained detailed information about challans of unauthorized parking, over-speeding, overloaded vehicles and safety of women in buses. During the meeting, he also discussed the complete implementation of Safe School Vehicle Policy for the safety of school children and the health check-up being conducted for drivers. 
He said that road safety rules should be followed to avoid accidents on roads and challans should be issued to those who do not comply. He said that wearing helmet for two-wheelers and belt for four-wheelers should also be ensured.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh instructed the concerned officials to install traffic lights to streamline traffic at Dr. Ambedkar Chowk and to make people aware about traffic rules. On this occasion, Regional Transport Officer Inderpal assured the Deputy Commissioner that road safety rules will be strictly complied with in the district and school buses/vans will be checked from time to time under the Safe School Policy.
