Chandigarh, June 14:- Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Shri A. Srinivas has announced that, in accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will commence across the state from June 15. Under this campaign, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification of voters and collect Enumeration Forms from June 15 to July 14.

He informed that Haryana currently has 20,655,929 registered voters and 20,629 polling stations. BLOs have been appointed at all polling stations and will visit every household to verify voter details. Voters will be required to fill, sign, and return the Enumeration Form provided by the BLO. As per the Commission’s instructions, voters whose duly filled forms are not received will not be included in the draft electoral roll.

The Chief Electoral Officer stated that BLOs will make at least three attempts to contact each household. If family members are unavailable, the BLO will leave the Enumeration Form under the door along with a notice containing the officer’s name and mobile number, enabling residents to establish contact later.

## Eleven Types of Documents Recognised; Eligible Youth Can Also Register

Shri Srinivas said that the Election Commission has specified 11 categories of documents for voter verification. These include identity cards or pension payment orders issued to regular employees and pensioners of the Central Government, State Government, or Public Sector Undertakings; identity cards, certificates, or other documents issued before July 1, 1987, by government departments, local authorities, banks, post offices, LIC, or public sector institutions; birth certificates issued by competent authorities; passports; matriculation or other educational certificates issued by recognised boards or universities; permanent residence certificates issued by competent state authorities; forest rights certificates; OBC, SC, ST, or other caste certificates issued by competent authorities; entries in the National Register of Citizens wherever applicable; family registers maintained by state or local authorities; and government-issued land or house allotment certificates.

He added that in cases where self-verification cannot be completed using available records, voters may use any of these documents to establish their eligibility and verify their details.

Eligible citizens who attain the age of 18 years on July 1, 2026, will also be able to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll. Such applicants can submit Form-6 along with the required declaration.

## Draft Electoral Roll to Be Published on July 21; Political Parties Urged to Cooperate

The Chief Electoral Officer stated that the draft electoral roll will be published on July 21, 2026. Claims and objections will be accepted from July 21 to August 20, while their disposal will be completed by September 18. The final electoral roll will be published on September 22, 2026.

He recalled that the last large-scale house-to-house voter verification exercise in the state was conducted in 2002. For the first time since then, the Election Commission is undertaking another state-wide Special Intensive Revision. So far, an average of 64.7 percent mapping work has been completed. The objective of the campaign is to ensure that every eligible citizen is included in the electoral roll, to remove records of deceased or shifted voters, and to make the electoral rolls more accurate, transparent, and error-free.

## Municipal Commissioners Assigned Additional Responsibility

To ensure coordination and support for Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers during the revision process, Municipal Commissioners of various urban local bodies have also been assigned the responsibility of Additional District Election Officers. Shri Srinivas said that this arrangement would strengthen monitoring and implementation of the revision exercise in urban areas.

## Political Parties Appoint BLA-2 Representatives

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that political parties have appointed a large number of Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) to assist in the revision process. So far, 15,808 BLA-2s have been appointed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 12,855 by the Indian National Congress, 270 by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), 217 by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), and 214 by other political parties. Each BLA can submit up to 50 Enumeration Forms to the BLO every day.

He appealed to all recognised political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents at every polling station to further strengthen the transparency and impartiality of the revision process.

## Help Desks and Call Centres for Voters

For the convenience of voters, help desks have been established at the Assembly Constituency level and call centres at the district level. In addition, citizens can obtain information through the Election Commission’s helpline number **1950** and various digital platforms. The progress of the campaign will be monitored in real time.

The Chief Electoral Officer urged all citizens to cooperate fully with BLOs, carefully fill and sign the Enumeration Forms, and submit them within the stipulated time to ensure that their names remain safely included in the electoral roll. He appealed to all stakeholders to actively participate in the process and contribute to strengthening India’s democratic framework.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Ritu, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri Raj Kumar Lohan, and other senior officials of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office were also present on the occasion.
