Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 7:- Under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar, Varun Sharma, IPS, and under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (City) Dilpreet Singh, IPS, the SAS Nagar Police have intensified a special campaign to curb the smuggling of illegal weapons and gangster activities.
Giving information to the media, Deputy Superintendent of Police (City-1) Gurcharan Singh, PPS, said that the police team of Phase-1 Police Station, Mohali, under the leadership of SHO Inspector Sukhbir Singh, took immediate action on the basis of reliable information and arrested a person with an illegal weapon.
In this regard, FIR No. 199 dated September 4, 2026, has been registered at Phase-1 Police Station, Mohali, under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
The arrested accused has been identified as Rajeev alias Badal (25), son of Ajvir, resident of village Pappadpura, Tehsil Lakhri Dare, District Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, and currently residing at Dare Da PG, near Shiv Mandir, Azad Nagar, Balongi, District SAS Nagar.
The police recovered one .315-bore country-made pistol and one live .315-bore cartridge from the accused.
The accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court, from where two days of police remand were obtained for further investigation. During preliminary interrogation, it came to light that the illegal weapon had been brought from Uttar Pradesh and that the accused was attempting to establish his influence at the local level.
Police officials said that no previous criminal record of the accused has come to light so far. Interrogation is underway to ascertain the source of the weapon and the possible links of the accused with other persons involved in illegal weapons or gangster activities.
