Banga/Nawanshahr- The second day of the Inter-College Zonal Youth Festival (Zone-D) organized by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar under the guidance of Principal Dr. Tarsem Singh Bhinder at Sikh National College Banga was very exciting. The college yard flourished with the echoes of music, dance, acting and folk instruments when the students displayed their talent in various cultural forms.
To encourage these students, Member of Parliament Malvinder Singh Kang was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Kuljit Singh Sarhal Halka Incharge Banga also came with him. In his address, Malvinder Kang said that there is no dearth of talent among the youth of Punjab and Sikh National College has given a big boost to the talent of the youth by providing the platform for this Youth Festival.
The guests were presented with commemorative plaques by the college. In the results announced by the judges, Sikh National College became the overall champion for the fifth consecutive time with 114 points. Student Diptanshu was adjudged the first best dancer in Bhangra, Amardeep Singh first and Shahid Ali second best instrument player in folk music. The second place overall went to Hindu Kanya College Kapurthala and the third place to Guru Nanak Khalsa College Sultanpur Lodhi.
The prize distribution ceremony for the three winning colleges was conducted by Dr. Amandeep Singh (Director, Youth Welfare Department, Guru Nanak Dev University), Sardar Jarnail Singh Palli Jhikki (Secretary, Local Management Committee), Principal Dr. Tarsem Singh Bhinder, Dr. Indu Ratti and Dr. Gurvinder Singh (Dean, Art and Culture Department).
Principal Dr. Tarsem Singh Bhinder thanked the university representatives, especially Dr. Amandeep Singh, all the participating colleges and their teaching and non-teaching staff who worked day and night for the successful organization and Sardar Jarnail Singh Palli Jhikki (Secretary) who always stood shoulder to shoulder in every task.
Dr. Nirmaljit Kaur, Prof. Tajinder Singh, Prof. Pooja, and Prof. Preet Kamal handled the stage management duties well. Youth Festival Coordinator Dr. Gurvinder Singh and Co-Coordinator Librarian Manmant Singh congratulated the winning student artists, teachers in charge of the teams and coaches for this proud achievement and thanked the entire staff for their full support and said that this winning trophy and successful organization is a sign of the dedication, discipline and team spirit of the entire staff.
