Santokhgarh/Una, September 2 (Rajveer Chopra): In today’s competitive and digital era, anxiety and stress among children are becoming serious issues. Academic pressure, screen time, social comparison, and family expectations are deeply impacting children's mental health. Keeping this in mind, a seminar was organized for students of classes 9, 10, 11, and 12 at SSRVM Senior Secondary School, Naya Nangal.
The keynote speakers were Mrs. Nisha Sharma (Assistant Professor, LPU) and Mr. Sumer Khullar (Career and Guidance Team, LPU). They highlighted that stress is leading to increased fatigue, anger, and irritability among children. Children are experiencing a lack of self-confidence; they struggle to focus on their studies and face issues with concentration.
Explaining the situation to the students, the speakers noted that hormonal changes, career concerns, and the quest to establish one's identity are primary causes of stress at this age. They used various activities to educate the students about stress. They advised the students to create a timetable and stop comparing themselves to others. They also urged them to speak to their parents or teachers whenever they feel anxious or stressed.
Addressing the students on this occasion, School General Manager Mr. Sumesh Sharma stated that every child is talented; a teacher's role is simply to recognize that talent, provide the right direction, and offer guidance. He remarked that the true meaning of education lies in learning to solve life's problems independently. Instead of giving up in the face of minor issues, one should seek solutions. Children should always strive to become self-reliant and stay free from anxiety and stress.
He added that their goal is not only to help children become academic toppers but also to mold them into happy and resilient individuals. If a child becomes mentally strong, they will be able to pass any test that life presents.
School Principal Mr. Ramesh Kumar Shandilya, School Coordinator Mr. Rajnish Raizada, and members of the teaching staff were present on this occasion. Finally, School General Manager Mr. Sumesh Sharma expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Nisha Sharma and Mr. Sumer Khullar and honored them.
