Sangrur, October 24:- Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur said that the second phase of population enumeration under Census-2027 will begin in Punjab on November 16, 2026, and continue until January 4, 2027. Under this phase, people will have the facility of online self-enumeration from November 16 to 30, 2026, while enumerators will visit households from December 1, 2026, to January 4, 2027, to conduct the population enumeration.
The Deputy Commissioner said that data collected through the census serve as an important basis for preparing development plans according to people's needs. Accurate and complete population information is essential for future planning related to education, healthcare, housing, drinking water and other basic amenities. She said that the participation of every family would play a significant role in making the process successful.
She appealed to district residents to make use of the online self-enumeration facility between November 16 and 30, in accordance with the prescribed instructions and within the stipulated period. While entering their family details, people should carefully verify the information to ensure that no details are incorrect or incomplete. She particularly urged educational institutions to extend active cooperation in the census.
The Deputy Commissioner said that from December 1, residents should provide the necessary information to authorised enumerators visiting their homes and give accurate and clear answers to the questions asked. She said that with public cooperation, the task could be completed smoothly while ensuring that every individual is counted.
She also called upon panchayats, local institutions, social service organisations and aware citizens to educate people about the importance of the census and the prescribed dates.
Emphasising the message, “Our Census, Our Development,” she said that making the census successful was a shared responsibility and that every citizen should contribute to planning future development initiatives by providing accurate information.
