Sangrur, October 23:- Sangrur SDM Satish Chandra visited the grain markets in Ghabdan, Balian and Bhindran to review arrangements for paddy procurement. He gathered information about the arrival of crops and the procurement process in the markets and stressed that the concerned officials must ensure the necessary arrangements for farmers’ convenience.

On the occasion, Satish Chandra said that coordination among procurement agencies, the Mandi Board and other concerned departments was essential to ensure the smooth functioning of paddy procurement. He directed the concerned officials to ensure that farmers did not face any inconvenience in the markets.

The SDM appealed to farmers to bring only dry paddy to the grain markets. He said that bringing crops in accordance with the prescribed moisture standards helps complete the procurement process quickly and prevents farmers from having to wait unnecessarily in the markets.

He said that paddy with excessive moisture takes additional time to dry, which may delay procurement. Therefore, farmers should pay special attention to moisture levels while harvesting, storing and transporting their crops to the markets, and cooperate with the procurement staff.

Satish Chandra also reviewed cleanliness, drinking water, lighting and other basic facilities in the markets. He said that timely lifting of procured paddy must be ensured so that farmers bringing more produce to the markets do not face a shortage of space.

He said that the administration aims to provide efficient services to farmers throughout the paddy procurement season. All concerned departments must discharge their responsibilities diligently to ensure that the process is completed smoothly.
