Chandigarh:- Before the scam of 1.14 crores in PGI's private grant cell, there have also been frauds worth crores in government schemes like Ayushman and Himcare. Surprisingly, the mastermind of these scams was also Durlabh Kumar.
With the help of his associates, he used to get free medicines from PGI's 'Amrit Pharmacy' through fake patient records and then sell them in the market at a 15-20% discount. This fraud was done by putting fake stamps of PGI doctors.
The CBI had registered an FIR against Durlabh, who was running a photo state shop in PGI's Gol Market, and six PGI employees three days ago. This year, Durlabh was also arrested by the Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police.
He was caught in a fraud in the name of Ayushman Bharat and Himcare scheme. In this scam, free medicines available under government schemes were withdrawn in the name of fake patients and sold at private medical stores.
This fraud was exposed in February 2025, when a youth reached Amrit Pharmacy to get medicines worth about Rs 60,000 on Ayushman card. After getting free medicines from the pharmacy, when the security personnel became suspicious of him, he was searched.
Fake stamps, indent forms and documents of various departments were recovered from the youth. The youth was Raman Kumar, a resident of Kangra (Himachal Pradesh). A case was registered against him at Sector-11 police station. Durlabh Kumar's name came up in the police investigation.
During the investigation, it was found that it was a big gang whose mastermind was Durlabh Kumar, who used to obtain the records of patients with the help of Ajay Kumar, who got the Ayushman card made, and employees associated with Amrit Pharmacy.
After this, fake prescriptions were made in the names of patients, expensive medicines were prescribed and fake stamps of doctors and department heads were affixed in PGI. Raman Kumar used to take these prescriptions, get free medicines from Amrit Pharmacy, and deliver them to a famous chemist shop in Chandigarh, where Durlabh Kumar used to sell them at a discount of 10-15 percent from the market price.
