Karnal, October 21: On the occasion of Police Memorial Day, tributes were paid to the martyred police personnel at the New Police Lines on Kaithal Road, Karnal. On this occasion, police officers, employees, and the families of the martyrs paid homage to the bravery and supreme sacrifice of the martyrs. Everyone observed a moment of silence at the Police Memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs.
This day is celebrated every year on October 21 in memory of the brave police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice while serving the nation in the line of duty. On this day, tributes are paid to the martyred police personnel across the country and their contributions are remembered.
Additional Director General of Police, Karnal Range, Karnal, Dr. M. Ravi Kiran, IPS, stated that Police Memorial Day is celebrated to commemorate the historic event of October 21, 1959, when a small patrol party of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), deployed in the front line of the country's defense in the 'Hot Spring' area of ??Ladakh, was ambushed by the Chinese army. In this heroic struggle, 10 CRPF soldiers made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the country.
He stated that these soldiers embody complete dedication, loyalty, and courage in serving the nation and protecting citizens. Superintendent of Police, Karnal, Shri Ganga Ram Poonia, IPS, stated that the Haryana Police has also always been ready to serve society and the country. From 1990 to 2018, 11 police personnel of the Karnal District Police sacrificed their lives while performing their duties.
These include Inspector Baljit Singh, Inspector Vijendra Singh, Sub Inspector Narendra Kumar, Assistant Sub Inspector Raghunandan, Assistant Sub Inspector Palaram, Head Constable Kuldeep Singh, Head Constable Suraj Bhan, Head Constable Jagtar Singh, Constable Narayan Singh, Constable Mahavir Singh and Constable Mehar Singh.
On this occasion, Additional Director General of Police Karnal Range Dr M Ravi Kiran, Superintendent of Police Shri Ganga Ram Poonia, Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Police Mrs Kanchi Singal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Women Safety Mrs Meena Kumari, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters Shri Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police City Shri Rajiv Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Assandh Shri Gorakhpal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Indri Shri Satish Kumar Gautam, Deputy Superintendent of Police Gharaunda Shri Manoj Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Nilokheri Shri Mahavir Singh Swami along with all the station managers of the district police, other police personnel and family members of the brave martyrs were present.
