Hoshiarpur:- Punjabi Sahitya Sabha Hoshiarpur, in collaboration with the local District Language Office, organized an event on the "Creation Process" of Jarnail Singh Canada at the Digital Library Hoshiarpur under the chairmanship of 'Shayar Surinder Kangvi'. While welcoming the literati and literature lovers present, Dr. Jaswant Rai Research Officer read out a condolence message on the eternal separation of Dr. Ranjit Singh Bajwa, folklore scientist, Tripta K Singh's brother-in-law Sardar Gurcharan Singh and Bade Jeth's son Sukhwinder Singh and the members expressed their condolences to the family members of the departed souls.
Later, while introducing the life and writings of storyteller Jarnail Singh, he said that the attraction of reading and love for books helped Jarnail Singh, who came from a common family, to become a writer. Apart from six original and one edited story collections, she has also written an autobiography. She has won the Shiromani Parvasi Sahitkar Puraskar 2011 of the Language Department, the Dhahan Award of $25,000 for the Kale Varke story collection, and many other awards.
Talking about her life and studies, Jarnail Singh said that in my first three story collections, along with the life of a farmer and a soldier, the breakdown of relationships and in the later stories, the problems of Punjabis living in Canada, the generation gap, cultural tensions, and conflicts are fictionalized. I first find a basis for the story, then collect the material through research methods and later give it the form of a story through my imagination. I believe more in qualitative than quantitative.
The plot of a story travels in my mind for months. Every time I get up, sit down, walk, eat, the story is traveling with me. He shared long accounts of the process of creation of his famous stories like Black Work, Towers, Body Covered with Leaves. Later, he answered the questions asked by Dr. Karamjit Singh, Dr. Shamsher Mohi, Dr. Harpreet Singh, Dr. Darshan Singh, Kultar Singh Kultar, Satish Kumar, Dr. Kuldeep Singh with great power and seriousness.
After this, in the Kavi Darbar organized, the poets present Madan Veera, Tirath Chand Saroya, Jaswant Singh, Hardial Hoshiarpuri, Rajinder Sachdeva, Ashok Puri, Raj Kumar Ghasipuria, Rabinder Sharma, Ravi Singh, Lakhwinder Ram, Shashi Kumar, Jagmohan Singh, Karamjit Singh, Harjit Singh brought the event to its peak by presenting their latest works. The vote of thanks was expressed by President Surinder Kangvi in ??a meaningful manner through his literary remarks. Dr. Jaswant Rai handled the stage proceedings brilliantly.
